Biographical / Historical

Bert Fesler was born on July 22, 1866 in Franklin, Indiana. Fesler received the A.B. degree from the University of Indiana in 1889. He later studied law at Columbia University, the University of California, and at his brother’s law office. Fesler was admitted to the Minnesota and Indiana Bar in 1893. He was the City Attorney in Duluth, Minnesota from 1904-1908, and from 1910-1912. In 1913 Fesler was appointed Judge of the District Court for the 11th Judicial District of Minnesota. He was first elected to the bench in 1915 and served as judge until his retirement in 1944.
