Scope and Contents

This small collection consists of three folders which contain: printed company promotional materials and advertisements; professionally shot photographs including snapshots of workers, Greyhound drivers, Greyhound buses, and Greyhound depots and facilities; and correspondence regarding certain motor coaches. The contents of the collection are almost exclusively related to the Midwest, particularly the upper Midwest. The collection does not include bus schedules or route maps.

Biographical / Historical

Greyhound Bus Lines began service in 1914 in Hibbing, Minnesota. Carl Eric Wickman, Andy Anderson, and Charles Wenberg were involved in the first stage of the business. In 1915 it was incorporated as Mesaba Transportation Company. The name was changed to Greyhound Lines in 1926.
