The collection contains photographs consisting of family portraits, bicycles, rifles, houses and work places from 1885-1948; a biography from 1892-1969 and articles from the Northwestern Gun Club of Duluth from 1921-1966; guns, shooting ledgers from 1933-1969; the National Rifle Association from 1926-1933; weather report and diary of John J. Hibbard from 1911-1962.

Biographical / Historical
John Jacob Hibbard (1830-1909) was born in Lockport, New York and named after Chief Justice John Jay, to whom he was related. In 1852, he went to Canada and opened a small shop there. He moved to Duluth in 1861 and then to Superior, Wisconsin. He married Sarah A. Hill in 1854 and had 6 children, including Edwin J. Hibbard.
Edwin J. Hibbard (1875-1971) was the son of John Hibbard and lived in Duluth his entire life. Edwin Hibbard was a pattern-maker and worked for National Iron Works. He also belonged to the National Rifle Association of America, and was longtime member of the Northwestern Gun Club.
