Biographical / Historical
The Jackson Elementary School was located at 422 West 3rd Street in 1884. The frame structure was abandoned in 1893 and the school rebuilt. In 1953 the building was remodeled. In about 1962 the school was closed. This date has not been confirmed and the Board of Education record indicates the school was used for county offices beginning in the 1950’s. Duluth city directories list principals for the school through 1962. It is not listed in the city directory of 1963.
