Biographical / Historical

Oscar J. Larson was born in Finland and came to Duluth in 1908. He was an attorney and was a representative for Minnesota's 8th Congressional District in 1921-1925. He was appointed to the house judiciary committee during his second term. Larson was a friend of Presidents Herbert Hoover and Theodore Roosevelt. His interest in Italian-American relations earned him the Royal Crown of Italy, the highest decoration awarded by that nation to a non-Italian. He also was made a Knight of the 1st rank in the Order of the White Rose of Finland and was promoted to commandership.
