The collection contains: copies of letters to newspapers, 1854–1859; two news clippings about Mary Clara Post, 1934–1941; and one scrapbook consisting of newspaper clippings of Post's articles as a correspondent and poems written by her and by others, 1853–1891.

Biographical / Historical
Mary Clara Post came to Superior with her husband, John I. Post, in 1854. Mary Clara Post had made arrangements with the Ashtabula, Ohio Sentinel, to be its correspondent. She was the first newspaper reporter in history in the area. Later she wrote articles for the Houghton, Michigan Editor Telegraph and the Duluth Minnesotian.
