Biographical / Historical

John G. Rakowsky came to the United States from Koenigsburg, Prussia in 1855 and he eventually settled in Duluth. He served in the Eighth New York Infantry during the Civil War and returned to Duluth. Rakowsky married Marie Krause in 1863 and worked as a grocer. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and Old Settlers Association.
