Biographical / Historical
The Quetico-Superior Council was formed in 1927 in association with the Izaak Walton League for the purpose of obtaining a treaty between Canada and the United States to protect and expand public lands in the Rainy Lake watershed. The organization wanter the park-like, unexploited areas on all visible shores of lakes, rivers, and islands under public control maintained, all hinterlands to be administered under modern forest practices for a good timber supply, all game, fish, and fur-bearers developed for maximum production, and an international board to supervise the area.
