Biographical / Historical

Francois Roussain was an early settler who lived at Fond du Lac, which he helped to incorporate in 1857. He came to Minnesota in 1818 as a worker for the American Fur Company and later became co-factor of the post. He married an Ojibwe woman whose name was either Susan or Zoe; their son was Eustache Roussain.
