The collection consists of certificates; two Rotary Club newsletters from Ely, Minnesota; church affiliation papers; a document in Norwegian regarding Hellena Malene (1865); a Christmas card in Norwegian from the pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, Superior, Wisconsin; one news clipping; and photographs of: Oscar and Gertrude’s wedding, Oscar as athlete, and AAD Temple Brothers. None of the photographs are dated.

Biographical / Historical

Oscar Solheim was born Oct. 13, 1891, was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran church in 1891 and 1906. He was a high school athlete and member of fraternal organizations and civic groups. He was apparently an engineer, as his rank of sergeant in the First World War was based on and noted that occupation. He lived in Duluth but had some connection with Ely, Minnesota.
