Scope and Contents

The collection consists of nine pages of receipts for materials bought for Mr. Tarnowski’s business and are dated between 1909 and 1919. In 1912, the lumber ordered from the E.J. Bunker Co. was sold to the address 15 East 7th Street, Duluth. In 1919, Lumber ordered form the Heimbach Lumber Co. was sold to the address Lake Avenue and 8th Street, Duluth.

Biographical / Historical

Felix Tarnowski was the son of immigrant parents who settled in Gnesen Township. He worked as a logger and started working in carpentry at about the age of twenty. He moved to Duluth in his early twenties and continued with carpentry until his death in 1954. Mr. Tarnowski usually worked alone as a carpenter/contractor.
