Scope and Contents
The two volumes comprising this collection span 1895-1898 and contain statistics of attendance, suspensions, visitors, total days school is in session, teachers and their qualifications, monthly wages, and student information. Information about students includes: name, race, date of birth, parents (usually father's) name, parent's occupation, days of attendance, vaccination dates, promotion to next grade, and reason for leaving school.

Biographical / Historical
Stowe Elementary School, named for Harriet Beecher Stowe, is located in the Gary-New Duluth neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota. The first school building was erected in 1892 at 97th Avenue West and McCuen street in New Duluth. The Village of New Duluth was annexed to Duluth in 1895.
The current Stowe Elementary school was built in 1994 on the site of a prior 1915 school building at 101st Avenue West and Stowe Street.
