Biographical / Historical
Robert C. Mitchell (1832-1907) began the Duluth Tribune in July 1870, after Mitchell had moved his newspaper activities from Superior, Wisconsin to Duluth, Minnesota. The Tribune Printing Company published the Tribune until 1889, when the paper was sold. The company's office was located at 18 and 20 Third Avenue West with Mitchell as president, S. A. Phillips as treasurer, and F. L. Buell as secretary.
