Trinity Lodge No. 282 minstrel show recordings
Scope and Contents
The collection contains minstrel show programs for 1951, 1952, 1955 shows and five partial audio tapes of additional, undated shows. The shows were annual events to raise funds for charity, and occurred two nights in a row (Friday and Saturday) in December. The shows were presented in the Duluth Shrine Auditorium at 201 East First Street. The programs list Staff, Orchestra, Interlocutor and End Men, and Minstrel Chorus personnel. There are five incomplete taped performances that are not dated and do not correspond to the Programs of 1951, 1952, or 1955. The Interlocutor (master of ceremonies) is Carl A. Berg in the three programs and on the tapes.

Tape 2 Trinity Minstrels 19?, not complete: Possibly 1950 with Hawaiians. Carl Berg introduces “cast”; jokes; “Hawaiians specialty”: woman sings, woman and man sing, “Princess Papia – likes to give it away”, Hawaiian dance; back to Minstrel show jokes; song “Lump of Sugar Down in Dixie”; Clarence Thorp will sing “I Don’t Care If The Sun Don’t Shine” [no song on tape] END
Tape 3 Trinity Minstrels 12-08-50 Last Half: Carl Berg master of ceremony, no introduction; begins with tap dancing to music; jokes; Sig Soberg sings “Are You From Dixie”; last half, 12/8/1950 END Does not match program for 1951, 1952 or 1955.
Tape 4 Date unknown Arne Pulaski, Joe Rich, Dan Anderson Begins in mid “joke” segment; incomplete
Tape 5 Date Unknown, Not Complete, show starts mid-sentence; Carl Berg master of ceremonies; “Trinity Quartet will now sing I’ll See You In My Dreams”; ends mid-sentence

Biographical / Historical
Trinity Lodge No. 282 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons held their first meetings in 1914, the organization was chartered in 1915. Their lodge is at 2118 West First Street in Duluth, Minnesota.
