Scope and Contents

The collection consists of 20 photos, 2" square, with corresponding negatives + 4 additional negatives.

The pictures show bare land and small outbuildings. They are identified by quarter section or nearby street intersections: Niagara St, Allen St., St. Marie St., Fay St, Woodland Ave. T50NR14W Section 14/ Reference to driveway from 26 E Kent Rd (House of James and Florence Maney) to the lower campus. Some photos include an unidentified man who may be a surveyor, engineer, or University official. The land in the photos presumably represents some of the 140 acres of land donated by "public-spirited" citizens in Duluth.

Administrative History:

The University of Minnesota Real Estate Office found this group of photos which document the early undeveloped Nortondale tract which became the eventual location of the UMD upper campus.
