Biographical / Historical

Herbert Andrew Widell (1918 August 30 - 2009 September 12) was born in Duluth, Minnesota to Swedish immigrants, Andrew and Elin Widell. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1936. Widell joined the Navy in 1942 following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Herb Widell and Lorraine Beutner were married in Syracuse, New York in 1945. Widell worked in Indiana, Wrenshall, Minnesota, New York City, and Sidon, Lebanon before settling in Fond du Lac, Minnesota in1965, working for Murphy Oil in Superior, Wisconsin until his retirement in 1983. The Widells had two children, twins David and Maria.
