Biographical / Historical

Wise Woman Radio a women’s music radio program began airing in 1981 on the Duluth, Minnesota public radio station WDTH (now KUMD). The purpose of the show was expressed in the opening statement for each program, “Our purpose is to promote awareness of women’s music, issues, culture, and history. Join us now as we explore the female experience.”

In the early years the show’s volunteers held an annual Arts Fair to promote the program and showcase local women artists and organized concerts. Originally covering public affairs and music, the show evolved to an exclusively music format in about 1984, and eventually changed its name to the Women’s Music Show.
