Biographical / Historical

World Refugee Year was an international effort to raise awareness of and support for the millions of people who were still refugees as a result of World War II. Although no Jewish refugees remained in 1959 because of Israel's considerable effort to take in any Jew in need, Jews in America were urged to join forces with Christians from around the world in order to help alleviate this crisis. The Duluth Committee planned programs in Duluth to make residents aware of the problem.
