Scope and Contents

The collection consists of two scrapbooks (1931-1933 and 1945-1946) from the Chester Park School Parent-Teacher Association. The scrapbooks contain news clippings, photographs, programs, pamphlets, flyers, certificates, and PTA officers' names, pupil enrollment numbers and in the 1945-1946 scrapbook, names and photographs of the Chester Park teachers, principal, and PTA officers. Also included in the collection is a folder containing two award certificates from the Duluth PTA Council, both dated May 2, 1974. One is for a 10% membership increase, and one is for excellence in Parent-Family Life.

Biographical / Historical

Chester Park Elementary School was built in 1927. The school closed following the 2004/2005 school year and the building was purchased by the University of Minnesota Duluth. The school's original address was 1 W Allen, eventually becoming 31 W. College St.
