Biographical / Historical
The Maynard School, affiliated with the University of Chicago, was a private school for girls in Duluth, intended to prepare them for college. The school was initially located in the Woodland neighborhood on Hardy Street, but was relocated to 26th Avenue East and Dingwall Street (now Greysolon Street) in 1897. Laura Jones was principal. The school disappears from the Duluth City Directory in 1900, as does an entry for Miss Jones.
