Biographical / Historical
Writing for the Social Sciences was a University of Minnesota Duluth course taught in 1990-1993 by Dr. Eleanor Hoffman. The Writing for the Social Sciences course represents an unusual cooperation with the Northeast Minnesota Historical Center. Dr. Hoffman was seeking stimulating subjects to engage the students she was teaching to write. She elected to use local history as a topic and the Morgan Park planned company town as a focus. The course was designed from the outset to give something back to the Center (additional information on Morgan Park) while meeting the needs of the students. Potentially, every student in the class could be working on a unique focus within the framework of the project and each new term built upon those before it.
