Ephemera collection
Scope and Contents
The collection contains items originally made for one-time impact or for informational purposes such as advertisements, announcements, broadsides, bumper stickers, calendars, flyers, handbills, invitation, letterheads, menus (not of a restaurant: see S4524 for Menu Collection), programs, and tickets. The collection includes a series of pin-back buttons related to events and organizations.
These items are placed into the Ephemera collection when they are not an integral part of another collection, have a broader appeal, and can be more easily found if filed separately. Ephemera items should be whole, which excludes incomplete items like newspaper clippings. Many have interesting illustrative aspects. Ephemera items are numbered, cataloged by maker or the publisher, and title, date, as well as described by the type of item such as 'advertisement' or 'letterhead."
Ephemera items are boxed by size in numerical sequence. To browse the collection, see the binder of photocopies of the originals.
