Northeastern Minnesota COVID-19 Community Archive Project
Scope and Contents
The collection contains materials related to the COVID-19 pandemic as it was experienced in Northeastern Minnesota, including Duluth, Minnesota. Included are photographs, artwork, musical performances, videos, oral history interviews, essays and written reflections, and other materials. The University of Minnesota Duluth Archives and Special Collections started collecting materials for the project in March of 2020. Contributors included individuals, local buisnesses, non-profit organizations, local government, and more. Several faculty members at UMD also made contributing to the project past of a class assignment, so student coursework is also included.
The collection also includes "Stories of Wisdom from Bodies in Seperation (SWaBS): Archiving the Coronavirus Pandemic Through the Lens of Humanities," a collection of 110 oral history interviews and supporting materials. This grant-funded project was a partnership between the Kathryn A. Martin Library and the UMD College of Liberal Arts, and was made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
