The collection contains reports, correspondence, notes and publications related to FORTRAN and COBOL development and programming language standards for FORTRAN, COBOL, and ASCII. The papers also include documentation regarding the Eckert-Mauchly Computer Corporation and its products the BINAC and UNIVAC; Remington Rand; and the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) and its computer, SEAC.

Biographical Note
Frances E. Holberton, also known as Betty Holberton or Betty Snyder, started with the Eckert Mauchly Computer Corporation in the late 1940s and later worked for Remington Rand after it purchased Eckert Mauchly Corporation. She was a leading figure in programming language development for Remington Rand.
