Biographical / Historical

In the wake of Videotex, Prodigy services began in 1983 as Trintex, comprised of CBS, Sears Roebuck and Company, and IMB Corp. They offered subscribers access to networked services, including news, weather, shopping, bulletin boards, games, polls, expert columns, banking, stocks, travel, and more. Trintex soon changed to Prodigy when CBS left the deal. Prodigy Classic, a proprietary interface and not a true internet service provider, was discontinued in 1999 to make way for Prodigy Internet. In 2006 SBC bought Prodigy, then SBC bought AT& T. As of 2011 Prodigy- created web pages were no longer supported.
