Biographical / Historical

Gregory Maguire was born Jun 9, 1954 in Albany, New York, and writes for both children and adults. Many of his works are inspired by classic literature, including his best known work, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which was based on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and was turned into a long-running popular Broadway musical. Maguire also helped found the nonprofit Children's Literature New England, Inc. He lives in Massachusetts.
