Biographical / Historical

Omar Castañeda was born in Guatemala and received a bachelors' degree and an MFA from Indiana University. He taught at Western Washington University until his death in 1997.

In addition to publishing short stories, he wrote books for children. The focus of his writing was on the clash of cultures and bringing to light struggles of ethnic and minority issues within American and global societies.
