The collection contains written material, and some illustrative material. Written material includes book reviews, programs, speeches, publisher's catalogs, calendars, typescripts, some corrected or photocopied or with carbon or with card notes, lots of correspondence, notes, clippings, literary journals, photographs, bulletins, programs, royalty statements, one with a check stub, critiques, a Sonlight Curriculum booklet, front matter, books and pamphlets, jacket proofs, photocopied page proofs, research material, corrected galley proof, schedules, programs, various souvenirs, Writer's NW, Summer, 1994, Oregon Ink, 1995, and a glossary. Illustrative materials include studies in watercolor, colored pencil, pencil, pencil studies with text pasteups, pencil sketches, photocopies, an overlay, and a negative.

Biographical Sketch

Eloise Jarvis McGraw was born December 9, 1915, in Houston, TX, and died November 30, 2000, in Portland Or. She became a writer of fiction, fantasy, and mysteries for children and young adults, and won three Newbery Honors for her work, along with many other awards and honors. She was also an artist, and created the covers for many of her titles. She and her husband also traveled a lot, mostly in this country and in Europe.
