Biographical / Historical

Doris Gates was born November 26, 1901, in Mountain View, California, and died September 3, 1987, in Carmel, California. She was a librarian, educator, and author. In 1941 she received Newbery honor for Blue Willow, which was based on her work with children of migrant workers. She has also written several textbooks, and books on Greek mythology.
