Biographical / Historical

Born July 14, 1927 in Manning, South Carolina as Margaret Cecile, Peggy Parish is best known as the author of the Amelia Bedelia series for children . She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1948 with a Bachelors of Arts in English. Parish taught English and creative dancing. She wrote more than fifty children's books, her works including fiction and non-fiction. She died in 1988. Her Amelia Bedelia series was continued by her nephew Herman Parish.
