Biographical Sketch

Nancy Winslow Parker was born October 18, 1930 in Maplewood, NJ. She received a BA from Mills College in 1952 and continued her education at the Art Students League and School of Visual Arts in New York. Parker's career endeavors have included sales promotion, art direction, graphic design, and freelance writing and illustration. Her children's books have won several awards, including the Christoperher Award and the American Library Association Notable Book. Parker insists that her illustrations and stories have one characteristic in common: they are all done in the spirit of fun. Parker finds inspiration for her books in real-life stituations. She writes both fiction and non-fiction for children, illustrating for other authors and for herself.
