Biographical / Historical

Rie Cramer was a Dutch author and illustrator. She was born in 1887 in Sukabumi, Indonesia (then known as the Dutch East Indies), and later returned with her family to the Netherlands. She studied at the Royal Academy of Art before embarking on a career as an illustrator, best known for her children's books. In addition to illustration she also worked as a writer, including plays (two published under the pseudonym Marc Holman), and as a translator. She died in 1977.
