Biographical / Historical

Peter Sis was born May 11, 1949, in Brno, Czech Republic. He immigrated to the United States in 1982 and became a citizen in 1989. He became an artist, animator, illustrator, stage designer, and writer. He received Caldecott Honors in 1997 (for Starry Messenger: Galileo Galilei) and in 1999 (for Tibet). He lives in New York City.
