Biographical / Historical
Uri Shulevitz was born February 27, 1935, in Warsaw, Poland. He came to the United States in 1959, and became a naturalized citizen during the 1960s. He became an author and illustrator of children's books, receiving two Caldecott Honors for The Treasure in 1979, and Snow in 1999.
