Biographical / Historical

Robert Geoffrey Trease was born in Nottingham, England in 1909. He attended Oxford University, but left before graduation, having decided to be an author rather than an academic. He wrote books for young people in a variety of genres, including mysteries, travel, history, and biography. He also wrote books for adults and worked as a critic and lecturer. He died in 1998.
