Biographical / Historical

James Playsted Wood was born on December 11, 1905 in Brooklyn, New York. He earned his B.A. in 1927 and M.A. in 1933 from Columbia University. James Wood was an instructor and professor of English for 16 years (1930-1946) and assistant to the director of research at Curtis Publishing Company from 1946-1962. He has been an author since 1937.
