Biographical / Historical

Shirley Hughes is an English author and illustrator. She was born near Liverpool, England in 1927 and studied at the Liverpool Art School and the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Arts at Oxford University where she decided to focus on illustrating books. He first children's books were created when her children were young and at the age to be read to.
