The collection contains typescripts, proofs, correspondence, research notes, and other related production material for children's books written by Adrien Stoutenburg. Several of the titles were coauthored with Laura Nelson Baker.

Biographical / Historical
Children's writer and poet Adrien Stoutenberg was born December 1, 1916, in Darfur, Minnesota. She attended the Minneapolis School of Art, and variously worked as a journalist, librarian, and editor. She was a well known poet and also wrote numerous books for children, including many non-fiction works. She occasionally collaborated with Laura Nelson Baker, and published under pseudonyms, including Nelson Minier and Lace Kendall. Stoutenburg died in 1982.
