Biographical / Historical
Irena Lorentowicz was a Polish artist, painter, and set designer, born in 1908. In the 1930s she studied at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts and the National Institute of Theater Arts. She worked in Paris for a time, before moving to the United States during World War II, where she became known for her art and children's book illustrations. She returned to Poland in 1960, where she died in 1985.
