This collection consists of manuscript materials related to publications (primarily for children) written by Uma Krishnaswami, and includes correspondence, page proofs, corrected typescripts, illustration photocopies, timelines, layouts, book reviews, jacket proofs, journals, research, notes and ephemera dating from approxomately 1994 to 2017.

Biographical / Historical

Uma Krishnaswami was born in 1956 in New Delhi, India; she received her BA in Political Science and her MS in Social Work from the University of Delhi in India. In 1979 she moved with her husband to the United States. Her publications, both stories and poems, have been published in Cricket, Highlights, Children's World, and Cicada. Her 2003 picture book Chachiji's Cupwas adapted into a musical in 2010 and performed around the United States. She currently teaches in the Writing for Children and Young Adults program at Vermont College in Fine Arts. Krishnaswami resides in Aztec, New Mexico.
