Biographical / Historical

Heather Vogel Frederick was born in Peterborough, New Hampshire and pursued a B.A. in English Literature and German at Principa College in Elsah, Illinois, graduating in 1979. She began her career as a journalist, working as a staff reporter and children's book review editor for Christian Science Monitor, while also writing for The New York Times, Family Life, Child, and Publishers Weekly. She has written picture books, historical fiction, fantasy, and contemporary fiction, including the popular Mother-Daughter Book Clubseries and the Spy Miceadventure series. Frederick currently lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and children. Her personal website can be found at
