Scope and Contents
The collection contains items related to works written and/or illustrated by David LaRochelle. The bulk of the collection consists of consists of manuscript materials related to LaRochelle's picture books, including Mooand various other titles, and his young adult chapter book Absolutely Positively Not. The collection also includes original artwork, with LaRochelle's original prints for Janet Greeson's The Stingy Baker, and a number of dummies and sketches for Barbara Maitland's The Bookstore Valentine. The artwork also includes LaRochelle's original sketches for he authored that were ultimately illustrated by other artists, such as Mooand The Haunted Hamburger.

Biographical / Historical
David LaRochelle was born October 26, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and grew up in New Brighton, alongside an older sister, Debbie. After graduating from St. Olaf College in 1983, LaRochelle became an elementary teacher before his first book, A Christmas Guest, was published in 1988. Since then he has published numerous picture books, puzzle books, and one young adult novel. He lives in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
