Scope and Contents
The collection consists of materials related to two titles published by Dorothy de Wit, both in 1979. The collection contains typescripts, page proofs, dummies, and notes. The collection also contains illustrations and sketches created by Jeff Quin for Children's Faces Looking Up, however, these illustrations do not seem to have been included in the published book.

Biographical / Historical
Dorothy de Wit was born May 24, 1916 in Youngstown, Ohio, and died June 19, 1980. She was a librarian and author. She was a member of the American Library Association's Notable Books Re-evaluation Committee between 1971-75. She also served on the Newbery-Caldecott Wilder Awards Committee for 1981. She reviewed books for several journals. Her special interests included marionettes. Her writings include Children's Faces Looking Up: Program Building for the Storyteller,a book on storytelling in the classroom, and The Talking Stone: An Anthology of Native American Tales and Legends,which was chosen as an ALA Notable Children's Book in 1979.
