Biographical / Historical
Marion Dane Bauer was born in 1938 and received her B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in 1962. Soon after graduation she began her teaching career in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She has also taught at the Hennepin Technical Center in Minnesota, the University of Minnesota Continuing Education program, the Institute for Children's Literature, and Vermont College of Norwich University. Bauer's writing includes young adult fiction, chapter books for beginning readers, picture books, and how-to books on writing for young people. Her books have received numberous awards, including the Newbery Medal Honor for On My Honor. She lives in Falcon Height, Minnesota.
