The Norma Klein collection includes written production materials for books written by Klein, including both juvenile and adult titles, and includes typescripts, manuscripts, clippings, reviews, a speech, notes, and correspondence from readers. The collection also includes some miscellaneous writings and articles.

Biographical / Historical

Norma Klein was born May 13, 1938, in New York City. She graduated from Barnard College in 1960, and earned an MA in Slavic languages from Columbia University in 1963. She began her writing career by writing short stories, mostly for literary journals. After reading of picture books to her own daughter, she decided to try her hand a writing children's books. She wrote picture books, juvenile novels, and young adult novels, as well as several works for adults.She died in New York in 1989.
