Biographical Sketch

Mary Jane Carr was born in Portland, Oregon and attended St. Mary's College in her home state. She was the associate editor of the Catholic Sentinelfor several years and then worked on the Oregonianbefore writing children's books. Her first book for children was Children of the Covered Wagonwhich was a selection of the Junior Literary Guild as was her second book, Young Mac of Fort Vancouver.
