Biographical / Historical
Elizabeth Marie Pope was born May 1, 1917 in Washington D.C. She received an A.B. Degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1940 and a Ph.D. from John Hopkins University in 1944. She was a professor of English and the subjects of her books are in some way connected to history and are celebration of the power of intelligence. She died in 1992.
