Biographical Sketch

Janice Lee Porter was born October 16, 1953 in Highland Park, IL. She married Anthony Peyton Porter February 2, 1991. Porter received a B.F.A Degree in 1978 from Kansas City Art Institue and an MFA from California State University in 2006. She is a teacher, painter and book illustrator. Many of the books she has illustrated are about people from other countries or Americans from different cultures. As of 2008, Porter teaches drawing, painting, and art appreciation classes at Chico State University and at Shasta Community College. She lives with her family in Chico, CA.
