Biographical / Historical

Esther Allen Peterson was born March 9, 1934, in Carson, ND. She spent her first seven years on the North Dakota prairie, and then her family moved to Philadelphia. In her teen years they moved to Port St. Joe, Florida. She began her writing career living in a small town in northern Minnesota with her Lutheran pastor husband. Her book, Frederick's Alligator, won the Christopher Award in 1979 and was Children's Choice in 1980.
