Scope and Contents

The collection consists of material related to four children's books written and illustrated by Palmer Brown, including original sketches for two titles, as well as a proof for a third title, and corrected typescripts for a fourth.

Biographical / Historical

Palmer Brown was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1919. He received his BA at Swarthmore College and his MA at University of Pennsylvania. Although he had no artistic training, he became a writer and illustrator of children's books.

Some materials originally held by Dr. Irvin Kerlan, who in turn donated them to the collection, additional materials sent directly by Palmer Brown.
